James "Jim" Freiermuth, age 85 of Hastings, died peacefully at home on Friday afternoon, September 24, 2021. James John Walter, the son of George and Frances (Biskupski) Freiermuth, was born on March 4, 1936, in Hastings. Jim attended Parochial School in Hastings through eight grade and later graduated from Hastings High School. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for a few years. On October 24, 1959, Jim was united in marriage to Nancy Wilson in St. Paul Park. They were blessed with fifty years of marriage and many memories together prior to her passing on April 10, 2010. Over the years, Jim enjoyed working at various locations, especially at Hudson Mfg., American Hoist, Family Liquor, and Treasure Island. He also enjoyed traveling and having a good time with family and friends. No matter where he went, Jim was always sure to have a story to tell. Jim truly loved Nancy and the time they spent together. He was very proud of his house in rural Hastings and always made sure everything was well kept. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; son, Jimmy; son-in-law, Corey Snider; grandsons, Jonathon and Jayden; siblings, Rita Mae, Mary Jane, JoAnn, George "Mush" , and Lenny; and by his dear aunt, Annie Lansberger. Jim is survived by his children, Scott (Kim) Freiermuth, Sheila (Ed) Steinke, Jackie Snider, and Brenda (Mike) Tipton; grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Li, Brandy Snider, Danny (Leo) Holum, Jon (Heidi) Tipton, Nick (Mindy) Snider, Joe (Amber) Tipton, River (Kayla) Snider, Caleb Freiermuth, Mike (Sue) Steinke, Bobby (Jenny) Steinke, and Jeff (Pricilla) Steinke; many great grandchildren; his cat, Snoopy; and by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 4, 2021, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or to the donor's choice in memory of Jim. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
