James B. Schneider

James Brandt Schneider, age 90 of Hastings, died October 21, 2015 at United Hospital in St. Paul, following a brief illness. James was born July 26, 1925 in Hastings to Joseph and Dora (Brandt) Schneider. He was a graduate of Hastings High School and in 1943 joined the United States Coast Guard serving during WWII. He was a member of both the VFW and American Legion Clubs in Hastings. James married Pauline M. Seleskie on February 15, 1947 and had owned and operated the Meyer Co., a retail clothing store in downtown Hastings for many years. James was a fast pitch softball catcher in his early days, loved to golf and enjoyed his daily coffee group. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Pauline on November 29, 2009. James is survived by his children, Thomas (Gayle) Schneider of Hastings, Joan Ann Reuter of Hastings and Jeannette "Jane" Schneider of Ft. Meyers, FL; also nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren; brother Robert Schneider of Sun City, AZ. A Memorial Mass will be held 10:30 AM Monday, October 26, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth Street in Hastings, officiated by Fr. T.J. McKenzie. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Post #1210. Arrangements are being handled by the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings, MN 55033.
