Jake Donald Gumphrey

Jake Gumphrey, age 34, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 18, 1991, in Burnsville, Minnesota, the son of Tammy Joan and Michael Robert Gumphrey.

Jake grew up in Apple Valley and graduated from Apple Valley High School, Class of 2009. He worked in a variety of fields throughout his life, including concrete work, cooking, mechanics, and construction. Jake married Macon Miller, and though they later divorced, they were blessed with a son, Mikey. Mikey was Jake’s whole world.

Jake enjoyed motorcycle riding, fishing and spent countless hours on the boat with his uncles. He had a gigantic heart and was known as a protector—generous, caring, and always willing to help anyone in need. Jake was a special human being who truly loved everyone.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael; grandmother, Jean Harvego; and grandfather, Donald.

Jake is survived by his beloved son, Mikey; mother, Tammy (John Schmidt); sister, Amanda (John Grewe); niece, Addilyn; step-siblings, Kata-Marie Schmitt, Jonathon Schmidt, and Patrick Schmidt; grandfather, Floyd Harvego; special fishing uncles, Greg Harvego and Andy (Carissa) Harvego; great-grandma, Flo; Mikey’s mother, Macon Miller; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Jake’s GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses and to support Mikey’s future.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12:00 noon with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service. Arrangements are with Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel – Anderson Chapel.
