Jackie "Jack" Caudill, age 63 of Hastings, died suddenly but peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, March 11, 2020, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Jack Nathan, the son of Russell and Ilene (Speakes) Caudill, was born on June 15, 1956, in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. At the age of ten, Jack's parents both died suddenly, which forced he and his siblings to move to Minnesota where they were raised by family. Jack graduated from Forest Lake High School with the class of 1974. He then enlisted in the United States Army where he served three years active duty, as well as in the National Guard and Reserves for fifteen years prior to being Honorably Discharged. On July 9, 1983, Jack was united in marriage to Mary Thomas in Hastings. Jack was a longtime employee of McDonald's Corporation as a Technician and currently worked as a Security Guard for General Security Services. He loved fishing, traveling, long drives to wherever they went on vacation, and enjoyed playing video games in his younger years. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Verneil Thomas; sister-in-law, Julie Zgoda; and by his brothers-in-law, Dave Lobejko, Jack Franklin, Bill Lidgerding, and John Zgoda. Jack is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Jerame (Jenny) Caudill and Brent (Allison) Caudill; five grandchildren, Marina, Scarlett, Ronan, Nolan, and Gavin; siblings, Russ (Mary) Caudill, Ramalie (Ernie) Wright, Austin (Anne) Caudill, Steve (Patti) Caudill, and Marsha Lidgerding; the extended Thomas Family; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Gordon Gathright officiating. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
