Iva Pearl Schnell

Iva Schnell, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at Hastings Health and Senior Living.

She was born on June 18, 1930, in Stewartville, Minnesota, to Harold and Ethel (Wright) Badger. Iva attended Reads Landing School and graduated from Wabasha High School. She went on to work as a technician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.Iva married Earl Schnell in Wabasha, and together they built a loving home and raised five children. In time, she devoted herself fully to her family as a homemaker.

She enjoyed her winters in Arizona, traveling, golfing, playing bridge, and spending time in her garden. Iva also had a spirited personality.She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Harold and Ethel Badger; her son, Peter; and her sister, Dorothy Chadwick.

Iva is survived by her children: Jacqueline “Jaci” (Dale) Staiger, Mary Sue Schnell (Richard Krejcarek), Thomas (Linda), and John; her grandchildren: Mitch, Gene, Kira, Noah, Calla, Mihai, Tereza, Joseph, Alison, Michael, Sara, and Christopher; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

Memorials may be directed to Grace Hospice or Hastings Health and Senior Living.

A family memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 10:00 a.m., with interment at SEAS Cemetery. Arrangements are with Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
