Hilde A. Caneff

Hildegard A. Caneff, age 87, of Hastings died Saturday, January 11, 2014 at her home after a lengthy illness.Hilde was born February 23, 1926 in Hastings to Matt and Rose (Beissel) Meier. She was a former employee at H.D. Hudson Mfg. in Hastings. She married Francis M. Caneff on June 13, 1945 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. Francis died October 24, 2006.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis, sisters Bernice Husting and an infant sister Martha, brothers Othmar, and Gordon Meier as well as grandsons Marty and Joey Caneff. She is survived by her children Dick Caneff of Hastings, Ron (Vicki) Caneff of Hastings, Ann (Jim) Slattum of Hastings, Sharon (Gordy) McNamara of Cottage Grove, Steve "Nubby" (Dee) Caneff of Hastings, Mary (Pat) Kasel of Hastings and Paul (Raeann) Caneff of Hastings; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; her siblings Florence (Bob) Pirrung of Cannon Falls, Don Meier, Peter (Grace) Meier, Dorothy (Rod) Smith, Rita (LeRoy) Reinardy, Harry (Sheryl) Meier and Jeannie (Mitch) Harrington all of Hastings.Funeral Mass officiated by Father Jim Perkl will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 16, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 Fifteenth Street West, Hastings. Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Jake, Curt and Ryan Caneff, Jason, Brian and Jim Slattum, Patrick Kasel and Troy McNamara.
