Herman "Herb" Schlapkohl

Herb Schlapkohl, age 88 of Cottage Grove, passed away on December 19, 2020. Herb was born on November 16, 1932 in Worthington, MN to Emil and Emma (Janssen) Schlapkohl. He was employed for 30 years at Armour Meat Packing Company. After retirement, he spent many years residing in Yuma, Arizona before returning to Hastings. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, trapshooting, feather painting and taxidermy. Herb is survived by sons, Brent (Lourdes) Schlapkohl, Kevin (Bobbi) Schlapkohl, stepson Thomas (Margaret) Endres, stepdaughters Carol Endres and Jane Endres, eight grandchildren, three great grandchilden, sister Minnie Apel, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen (Van Roekel) Boldt and Dorothy Lawrence, brother Eugene Scott, grandson Michael Endres and infant granddaughter Emma Schlapkohl. The family would like to thank the staff at White Pine Senior Living for their kind care these past years. A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
