Helen M. Ruedy

Helen M. Ruedy, age 93, of Hastings finally found her way home on Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Helen was born April 16, 1921 in Hastings to Clint and Vesta (Stone) Johnson. She was a 1939 graduate of Hastings High School and married Gale R. Ruedy on July 3, 1940. She was a long-time employee with Montgomery Ward prior to retirement. Helen enjoyed quilting, crossword puzzles, gardening and flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gale in 1999; sister, Janet Crist; brother, Merten Johnson; also sons, Dell and Carroll. Helen is survived by her sons, Cal (Ruth) Ruedy, Rob (Val) Ruedy and Ron (Helen) Ruedy; daughters, Barb (Bill) Pechacek and Ginny (Justin) Ruedy-Hankes; daughters-in-law, Dorothy Ruedy and Lynnea Ruedy; sister, Betty Lou Hamman; 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; also by many nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service, officiated by Gordon Gathright will be held 11 AM Friday, April 3, at Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 201 East Seventh Street, Hastings with visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in Cottage Grove Cemetery.
