Helen M. Crawford

Helen Crawford died Friday the 11th of May, 2018 at Autumn's Way Care Home in Durham, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband The Reverend Charles Hamilton Crawford, her parents Dr. and Mrs. Frank Lawrence Stoudt, her brother Jerome Hanna Stoudt, and grand-daughter Charene Joanne Graham. She is survived by her daughter Mary Helen Crawford Graham of Durham, NC, her son Charles Frank Crawford of Palm Springs, CA and Reno, NV, and her daughter Charlotte Irene Crawford Blake of San Diego, CA. She is also survived by three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Helen was born, raised and educated in Hastings, Minnesota, home of the world famous Spiral Bridge on the banks of the Mississippi River. She received a Bachelor's Degree at the University of Minnesota and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. She pursued post graduate studies at the U of M in the field of Social Sciences and entered her career in Minnesota as a social worker. She continued in this field later in life working in Arizona in Aid to Dependent Women and Child Services. As part of her experience while working in Yuma County, AZ she worked with the Cocopah Indian Tribe. Helen married The Reverend Charles Hamilton Crawford in June of 1942 in Holy Matrimony at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Hastings, MN. In 1948 the family made a life changing move to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Yuma, AZ. There they remained for the remainder of their ministry. Upon retirement they enjoyed many years of golf and world travel, which Helen continued with friends after her husband's death in 1989. Helen led a completely fulfilling and enjoyable life with family, friends, career and education accomplishments. She will be remembered as a loyal and loving member of our human experience. Helen will join her other family members in an Episcopal interment ceremony, 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings, along the banks of the Mississippi River, and be received in joy into the presence of our Lord.
