Harriet L Onsager

Harriet Onsager, age 97, died on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Regina Senior Living in Hastings, MN. She was born the daughter of Minnie and Jack Telford. She grew up in the Decorah Iowa area and attended school in Decorah. Harriet worked in a dental office growing up and after marriage, worked in the Decorah lunch program; eventually became the supervisor of that program. Harriet married Oscar Onsager in January 1948 and was blessed with two children. Harriet and Oscar owned and operated Model Paint and Wallpaper for over thirty years.
She loved knitting, crocheting, sewing, needle work, and counted cross stitch. Harriet was strong-willed and determined. She did not let problems bother her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Jack Telford; husband, Oscar; and brother, Robert Telford; brother-in-law, Rollie Grotegut; sisters-in-law, Vicki Telford and Lin Fuhs. Harriet is survived by her children, Jacklyn (Jerry) Rosendahl and Judy (Bruce) Hamilton; four grandchildren, Tina Schmitz, Tammi Brochman, Jenifer Winter, Scott Hamilton; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Hazel Grotegut, Neal Telford and Nadine (Dave) Siems; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Interment will be in Phelps Cemetery in Decorah, Iowa on Friday, April 18 at 11:00AM. Arrangements are with Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel.
