Harold Lawrence Hoffman a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away on to be with our Lord on Friday December 7, 2007. Harold was born in Haverhill Township in 1919 to Lydia and Emil Hoffman. He was joined in this world by two brothers and two sisters Helena, Milldred, Vernoid and Lyle. Harold married his life long sweetheart Juanita Wade on March 3rd 1946 and they began their family raising two daughters Diana and Jeannette. Harold was a family man, a construction worker, a gardener, and most of all a devout Christian who never wavered in his devotion to the Lord. Harold was preceded from this life by his parents, his sister Helena and his brother Vernoid. Beside Juanita, his wife of 61 years, he is survived by: His daughter, Diana Turner and her husband, Jerry Turner of Stillwater; Jeannette Lowe and her husband Gary Lowe of Roseville. Grandchildren Amy Ratekin and her husband, Mark Ratekin of Des Moines, IA; Nadine Straitt and her husband the Reverend Robert Straitt of Titonka, IA; Wade Rist of Des Moines, IA; Tim Rist of Las Vegas, NV and Kevin Rist of Woodbury, MN. Great-Grandchildren James, Kaitlin, Joshua, Matthew, Andrew, Arianna and Skyler. Harold loved gardening and yard-work. Besides his wonderful flowers that all the neighborhood envied, he had the most magnificent tomato patch in the world. Every year Harold would be out in his garden at the first hint of spring preparing the ground for his soon-to-be bounty of tomatoes and other vegetables. Many of his friends would try to bring in their first crop of tomatoes before Harold, but throughout the years no one was ever able to have earlier or better tomatoes then Harold. As a construction worker Harold diligently worked year after year keeping his family housed and fed in good times and bad. Never before has there been a more devoted husband and father as Harold. Harold passed on in his sleep in December 7, 2007. His warm smile will be missed by us all but his spirit will live on forever in the memories of all of us whom he touched with his love. A Private Family Service was held on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the Wise Family Funeral Home. The Wise Family Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements 651-437-3752 www.wisefamilyfh.com
