Harold D. Meyer

Harold D. Meyer, age 79, of Rochester, formerly of Miesville, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN. Harold was born May 30, 1929 in Lake City, MN to Clarence and Anna Josephine (Brock) Meyer. The eldest of 5 children, he grew up in the Lake City/ Frontenac area, farming with his dad using horses and Harold preferring the tractor. In December of 1952, he married Viola Welch, the mother of his 8 children. He was also an Army veteran, having served 1952�1954 during the Korean War. Harold was employed over 40 years by the Peavey Flour Mill, later Con Agra and also enjoyed his hobby farm. He married Evelyn (Felde) Bellin in Red Wing in 1979.Some of his favorite memories over the years included classy vehicles, polka dancers, and having a photo taken with some of the MN Vikings cheerleaders. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Melvin and Norman; step-child Lisa Bellin; and wife Evelyn in 1997.Harold is survived by his children, Dave (Judy) Meyer of Sparta, WI, Jerry Meyer of Troy, ID, Deb (Dan) Call of Alma Center, WI, Dan Meyer of Pine Island, MN, Terry (Ellen) Meyer of Rochester, MN, John Meyer of Cashton, WI, Randy Meyer of Fountain, MN, and Tom (Josephine) Meyer of Pine Island, MN; 7 grandchildren, Justin, Josh, Jeffrey, and Jennifer Meyer, Laura, Jason, and Benjamin Call; step-grandsons, Jesse Jongaard, Ryan and Trenton Enzler; first wife Viola (Ray) Zempel of Zumbrota; brother Lloyd Meyer and sister Marvel Holden, both of Red Wing, MN. A funeral service will be held at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E.Seventh Street, Hastings, MN on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11:00am, with a visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Red Wing. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
