Harley G. Rabe

Harley G. Rabe, age 77, of Hastings died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 25, 2016 after a courageous six month battle with mesothelioma.He was born October 29, 1938 in Hinckley, MN, and graduated from Hinckley High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years and 8 years in the Army National Guard. Harley worked at Koch Flint Hills Refinery for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was preceded in death by his parents, Egbert and Olga (Lick) Rabe, and brother Leon Rabe. Harley is survived by the love of his life, wife Pam; daughters, Dena Klein of Hastings, Dee (Bill) James of Maple Grove, son Derek (Paula) Rabe of Cape Coral, FL; step-daughters, Stacy (Dave) Schommer of Prescott and Debbie (Brian) Loesch of Hastings; also ten grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie (Paul) Marudas of Hinckley and Marolyn (Jim) Harris of Alta Lona, CA; brother Alden (Dianne) Rabe of Lakeville and sister-in-law, Judy Rabe of Neenah, WI; also many other relatives and friends and his very dear and special friends of the "196th Ordinance Detachment, U.S. Army". The Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Thursday, January 28, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church - Rich Valley, 14385 Blaine Ave., Rosemount, MN 55068, officiated by Rev. Christopher Horton. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Interment with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210 will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. The family wishes to thank Allina Hospice for their loving care and requests memorials be directed to them in memory of Harley.
