Gregory J. Rother

Gregory J. Rother, age 98, of Hastings died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Regina Transitional Care in Hastings. Gregory J. was born January 28, 1918 in Castle Rock Township, Dakota County, Minnesota to Robert and Catherine (Kuhn) Rother. Greg married Agnes Loesch on May 26, 1943 in Vermillion, MN. Greg was a lifelong farmer who remained very active after his retirement. He loved to fish, work in his yard, he took up golf and bowling, and worked for a local grocery store for a number of years. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Agnes, and by his brothers and sisters, Edward, Catherine (Katie), Elizabeth, Martha (Sister Kathleen), Florence (Sister Roberta), Clarence and Raymond. He is survived by his children Gary Rother, Janice (Steven) Benkoske, Ron (Lynnette) Rother, Dennis (Patti) Rother, Debora (Larry) Johnson and Steven (Diane) Rother;12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; 1 sister Rita (Gerald) Stubbs; also by many relatives and friends. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. David Hennen, will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church; 2035 West Fifteenth Street, Hastings, MN. A visitation will be held for 1 hour prior to Mass at church. Interment will take place at the parish cemetery. Gregorys family ask that you join them following interment for dinner at church to share more conversation and story sharing. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Shelf, Regina Hospice or to the donors choice in his memory.
