Glen D. Madland, age 88, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at his home on September 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Glen was born on April 16, 1937, in Winona, Minnesota, to Glen and Lola (Boyd) Madland. He grew up on the west side of St. Paul, and the family later moved to the east side, where he graduated from Harding High School. As the oldest of eight children, Glen carried great responsibility at a young age. He often helped care for his brothers and sisters while his parents worked, which became an important part of his daily life growing up.

After high school, Glen proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he played clarinet in the Marine Band. During his service, he had the honor of marching in two Rose Bowl parades. Following his time in the Marines, Glen remained proud of his service throughout his life and continued to honor veterans as a longtime member of the St. Paul Park Honor Guard.

On October 6, 1962, Glen married the love of his life, Teresa Ficker, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Trier, Minnesota. Together, they built a wonderful life and raised three children, David, Michelle, and Ann. Glen worked for many years as a rail switchman with CP Rail. He was a quiet, kind man and a devoted provider who treasured family time. Many special memories were made at the family cabin in Outing, Minnesota, as well as during countless road trips and annual drives to Las Vegas with Teresa.

Glen enjoyed tending to his rose garden and took great pride in them, joking that his wife’s flowers were “weeds". He loved to bowl, relax with a Schmidt beer, and was well-known for his expressive facial gestures and playful habit of making faces, something his daughter Ann often remembered about him. Though he was a man of few words, Glen had a gift for listening, connecting with many people through his kindness.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Teresa; parents, Glen and Lola; brothers, Larry and Roger Madland; and sisters-in-law, Joan and Mary Madland.

He is survived by his children: David (Diana Brasch) Madland, Michelle (Dan) Ninefeldt, and Ann Madland; grandchildren: Jacque, Paul, Joshua (Cassie), Erik, Mark, Justin, and Ayla; great-grandchildren: Kylie, Rebyl, Knox, Nash, and Benny; siblings: Zandra Ryan, Dan (Joy) Madland, Wally Madland, Peter (LuAnn) Madland, and Bonnie (Paul) Madland; as well as nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends
