Gladys E. Becklund

Becklund, Gladys (Johnson)
age 91, of Mpls., born Oct. 18, 1918 in the Parkers Prairie area of MN. Early in life she moved to Mpls. for health and employment reasons. There she met and married Edward (Shorty) Becklund, who was the joy and love of her life. After WWII, Gladys and Shorty moved to So. Mpls. where their daughter Marlene was born in 1946. Gladys was an active member of Lebanon Lutheran Church and a longtime volunteer for the South Minneapolis Meals on Wheels. She received WCCO Good Neighbor award and was honored by her church for many years of volunteer work on the church Altar Guild and worship committee. In recent years, health prevented her from staying home, but she maintained relationships with family and friends during her long stay in the nursing home. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Marlene and her loving husband, Shorty. Those who remain to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Memorials may be sent to the American Red Cross or local Meals on Wheels program. From God we come, to God we return. Thanks be to God for life and Life Eternal with our God.
