Gervase W. Serres

Gervase W. Serres, age 84, of Hastings, passed away at home June 29, 2016. He was born in New Trier on August 26, 1931 to William and Clara (Burr) Serres. He worked at 3M Chemolite for 39 years, retiring in 1990. Gervase was an avid mechanic known for his passion for cars. He was a true family man who loved his family more than anything. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Laverne, Donald, Gerald, Leon and Loren Serres; sister, Lorraine Matsch; the mother of his children, Mary Serres; and his longtime friend, Virginia Wanner. Gervase is survived by his children, Deb (Joel) Bauer, Gary Serres, Larry (Claire) Serres, Terry (Marlene) Serres, Bill Serres, Deanna (Curtis) Haler, and Tracy (Jana) Serres; grandchildren, Crystal (Jim) McNamara, Jason (Jacki) Bauer; Jeremy (Jody) Serres, Adam (Emily) Serres, James Serres (Rita Zappa), Laura Rose Serres; Megan Serres; Joshua (Heather) Serres, Jessica (Craig) MacDonald, Emily Serres; Jenna Haler (Eric Peterson), Nathan Haler, Linnea Haler; Radyn (Hannah) Serres, Tyler (Aly) Serres, Brandon Kettner (Kelsey), and Marc Kettner; great grandchildren, Ava, Jaida, Wally, William, Ryan, Henry, and Reegan.; many other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke, will be held on Tuesday (7/5) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 8433 239th St. E., New Trier. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at church,. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, New Trier. Military Honors provided by Lyle Russell Post 1210. Memorials Preferred.
