Gerald M. Hughes

Gerald M. Hughes, age 86, of Hastings, passed away January 24, 2018 at his home. He was born on July 23, 1931 in Brainerd, MN to Harry and Marian Hughes. He married Shirley on June 25, 1977. Gerald worked in the St. Paul Stockyards and also owned and operated Hughes Pumping Service. Gerald is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; granddaughter, Nicole Buchholz; great grandson, Brandon Cox; son in law, Donald Miller. He is survived by his children, Jerry (Pam) Hughes of Hastings, Nancy Hughes of St. Paul, and Colleen Miller of Red Wing, step children, Cheryl (Tim) Roots of North Carolina, Sue Ploog of Annandale, Gary Johansen of South Haven, Peggy Sherry of Hastings, and Scott Johansen of Annandale; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held on Wed. (1/31) at 11:00 AM at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring Street in Hastings. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Interment, Forest Hill Cemetery in Anoka. Memorials preferred.
