Gerald "Jerry" B. Johnson

Gerald B. Johnson, age 84, of Hastings died Saturday, October 3, 2015 at his home surrounded by family. Gerald Bert Johnson was born August 25, 1931 in Red Wing, MN to Asa and Veronica (Fox) Johnson. Jerry was a long time farmer and also was a retired employee for 3M. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. He married Mathilda "Tillie" Bauer November 25, 1954 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings. They enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and a former Marshan Township Planning Commissioner. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Tillie, 4 children Cheryl (Tom) Corcoran of Blaine, Terry (Jan) Johnson of Hastings, Brian (Cindy) Johnson of Hastings and Brenda (Matt) Siebenaler of Hastings; 6 grandchildren Marinna, Aaron, Kelly, Andy, Adam and Katelyn; 1 great- grandchild Hailey, and 1 sister Venita "Beana" Phillips of Glencoe, MN. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 4-8 PM at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 7th Street East, Hastings and 1 hour prior to Mass at the church. The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th Street West, Hastings. Interment with Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Post 1210 will follow in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Hastings Family Service.
