Gerald J. "Duff" Doffing

Gerald J. "Duff" Doffing, age 94 of Hastings, died Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Regina Assisted Livingin Hastings.Gerald was born April 13, 1921 in Vermillion, MN to Mathias and Maria (Beissel) Doffing. He married Agnes Bauer on April 25, 1944 at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. He formerly owned Jerrys Auto Electric in Hastings and also did clock repairs and worked with auto and small engine repair. Duff was a devoted husband and father and was an avid hunter and fisherman.He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Leonida Rother, Lucille Oster and Irmaina Doffing; brother, Greg Doffing and grandson, Greg Doffing.Gerald is survived by his wife, Agnes; son, Richard (Jean) Doffing of Frederic, WI; two grandchildren, Jerry Doffing and Carrie Ann Elder; two great grandchildren, Adam and Chet; niece, Jeanne (Loren) Schumann; also several other nieces and nephews.Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings with visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at church. Fr. David Hennen will officiate.Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Jerry Bauer, Joe Bauer, Alfred Bauer, Leon Rother, Wayne Bauer and Jake Gergen.Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
