Gerald George Ausen

Gerald George Ausen, age 81, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 10, 2015 He was born October 13, 1933, in Watertown, S.D., to George and Della Ausen. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Donna and sister, Grace Borstad. He was a loving father and grandfather, a kind-hearted and very sociable person to everyone that knew him. He worked for the Hastings Veterans Home for 35 years as the Chief Engineer. He loved to share his many stories from his youth, career, military and meeting then marrying his wife, Donna. We will never forget you grandpa, and will greatly miss your stories. You are at peace now with grandma and Casey forever. We will always love you. Jerry is survived by his children, Gerald “Jerry” Jr. (Linda), Tammy (David) Wenker; grandchildren, Nathan, Kelsey (Aaron) Harmon, Dana Kayleen (Nate) Ostroushko, Tyler, Terren, Shannon, Shayla; great-granddaughter, Jazlyn; sister, Beverly (Roger) Stenson; other relatives and friends. A Funeral Service, officiated by Pastor Betty Raitt, will be held Friday, August 14th at 5:00 P.M. at the Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring Street in Hastings. A Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210.
