Gerald E. "Spike" Stevens

Gerald "Spike" Stevens, age 86 of Hastings, died peacefully on Thursday morning, October 22, 2020, at United Hospital in St. Paul. Gerald E., the son of Alyosius and Vernice (Frey) Stevens, was born on June 15, 1934, in Hastings. Following his graduation from Hastings High School with the class of 1952, Spike enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was later Honorably Discharged. On September 26, 1956, Spike was united in marriage to Rose Mary "Tiki" Seleskie at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. Spike was a longtime employee at 3M, and retired in 1996 after twenty-five years of service. He enjoyed wintering in Gulf Shores, Alabama with Tiki, golfing, and was a dedicated fan of the Minnesota Vikings, Twins, and Gopher Football. Most of all, Spike especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry Jr.; wife, Tiki; and by his sisters, Patricia O'Brien, Phyllis Doffing, Rita Nelson, and Barb Nelson. Spike is survived by his children, Stacey (Doug) Corrington, Susie (Rob) Sieben, John "Ripper" (Margie) Stevens, and Jim Stevens; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Mary Stevens; and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2020, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Father David Hennen officiating. Interment with Military Honors provided by the VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 will follow at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and to a reception following the burial, all at the funeral home on Wednesday.
