Gary Vernon Nelson

Gary Vernon Nelson, age 62, of Hastings died suddenly at home surrounded by his family on October 18, 2009.Gary was born November 21, 1946 in Albert Lea to Vernon and Pearl (Wildman) Nelson. He was a longtime employee of GEA (Niro) in Hudson, WI.He was preceded in death by his father Vernon;step father Earl Traufler; and sister Karen. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy; son Mathew (Carrie); daughter Michele (Matthew) Gutsmiedl; grandchildren Cody, Auna, Jordan, Jack Nelson, and Keira Gutsmiedl; mother Pearl Traufler; brothers Gene (Maureen), Dennis (Theresa), Cliff (Kathy) Michaelis; sister Diane (Michael) Calderon; brother in law Gary (Laura) Ebensperger; many nieces and nephews.The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. Fifteenth St.; Hastings, followed by interment in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers are Jack Thomas, Frank Kelly, Keith Kullman, Tom Carroll, Floyd Latuff, George St. John, and Dick Radabaugh. The visitation will take place from 5-8 P.M. Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St.; Hastings.
