Gary Allen Schauer

Gary A. Schauer, age 78, of Hastings died Monday, July 11, 2016 at Regina Medical Center. Gary Allen was born August 22, 1937 in St. Paul to Charles and Helen (Berncich) Schauer and graduated from Humboldt High School. He married JoAnne Schletty on August 26, 1961 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in South St. Paul and was employed as a journeyman linotype operator and then later worked in auto parts sales. Gary loved his God, wife, children and their spouses, and his grandkids, and especially enjoyed family events, friends and being active in New Heights Community Church. He enjoyed golf, chocolate chip cookies, driving his John Deere tractor, mowing the grass and giving grandkids rides on the tractor wagon. Gary appreciated the "country living" with people gathering at his house, sitting out by the bonfire and just being home. He also enjoyed the Gaither Vocal Band, teasing people, laughing and making others laugh. Gary is survived by his wife, JoAnne; brother, Charles (Muriel) Schauer; children, Daniel (Marsha), Tom (Gwen), Donna Schauer-Thiner (Wayne), Ken (Becky), Glenn (Mindy), Brian (Michelle); honorary children, Tim Callies (Colleen) and Julie Skogstad; grandchildren, Carrissa, Hunter, Nathan, Miriam, Connor, Garrett, Avery, Lilian, Nolan and Ajay. The Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Cornerstone Bible Church, 735 East Tenth Street, Hastings, with Pastor Jim Bzoskie officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:30 AM until time of service.
