Gary A. Passauer

Gary A. Passauer, age 75, of Hastings, passed away at Regions Hospital in St. Paul on March 12, 2019. Gary was born June 26,1943 in Independence, KS to June and Lois Passauer. He was a graduate of Independence Community College in 1961. Gary served in the Military Reserves from 1964 to 1970 and was awarded for being a Sharpshooter. He was a welder for North Star Chemical and later a Supervisor at Koch Refinery until retirement. Gary retired at 57 and enjoyed spending his vacations with his family in Kansas. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in earlier years but mostly enjoyed working in his garage and spending time with grandchildren and family. Gary married Mary Lenz on May 6th, 1967. He is survived by his wife, Mary and 4 children, Christopher, Penny, Jennifer and Tara; 7 grandchildren, Chelsea, Austin, Madison, Carter, Annabelle, Kiera and Audra; great granddaughter, Ava; brothers, Chet, Tom, Jeff; (Jack deceased) and sister, Delores. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Chase; and brother, Jack. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, March 18 from 4-6 PM at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel - Wise Chapel, 400 Spring St in Hastings. The Starkson Life Celebration Chapel is serving the family.
