Frank Oliver Frost (“Spitty”), age 80, passed away on April 8, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. Frank was born on July 2, 1939 in Hastings, MN to his parents Reginald and Rosella (Reuter) Frost. He attended Guardian Angels school for 8 years and then on to the public school. He was in the 3rd grade when he was given the nickname “Spitty,” after playing baseball and accused of throwing spit balls. The nickname seemed to stick by him through his school years and into his adulthood. Frank was drafted and spent 2 years in the army stationed in Korea. After his service he worked for the Fish and Wildlife as a surveyor in Southern Illinois. It was during this time he met his wife Karrol Kuhl and they were married on December 29, 1962. They spent 57 years together sharing many wonderful times and raising their family. After working in Benson, Walker and Rochester, the family moved back to Hastings, MN. There he spent 5 years with Axel Newman Plumbing and Heating and then was offered a position with Healy Company. In 1977 Frank decided to start his own Company. On January 15th he formed Nova Frost, Inc. and his business is still going today having been run by his sons Steve and Mike. The Company did well, and Frank met many wonderful people around the Cities while doing business on commercial jobs. After retiring in 2000, he and Karrol spent 15 years in Mesa, AZ during the winter months. They traveled a lot taking trips to Europe and cruising in the Caribbean. Frank was a collector of many things. He spent many years working on his Studebaker collection of memorabilia. He owned several Studebaker cars over the years and the family traveled about to different states to the National Conventions. He also collected County Atlases from around the country and especially liked ones from Minnesota. He was a good golfer and was able to play a lot during retirement, getting 2 holes in one. His collections also included anything golf related. Frank loved genealogy and wrote a book, “The Frost Family of Denmark Township.” Frank was a man of many talents and always had a smile on his face, a positive attitude and witty sense of humor. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Frank always said, "My greatest accomplishment in life is my family." Frank was a special man to his family and leaves behind his wife, Karrol and three children, Steve (Kathy), Mike and Susan (Martin) McVicker; 10 grandchildren, Robert, Sara, Olivia, Ashley, Crysta, Skylar, Shayne, Taeler, Keagan and Zander; and 4 great grandchildren, Ava, Rylan, Everly and Oaklyn (whom all loved him dearly). He is also survived by a brother, Bob (Mary Lou) Frost, and two sisters, Margaret (Dave) Hanson, and Rose Mary (Dave) Bignell; sister-in-law, Joan Frost; many nieces and nephews and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Reginald & Rosella Frost and three brothers Reggie, Bill and Mike. A service of celebration will be held on a later date when it is safe to gather. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
