Frank Carmen Maroni

Frank Carmen Maroni, age 67, of Hastings, died peacefully in his sleep Monday, May 11th, 2026. Frank was born on Thursday, November 13th, 1958, to Frank Anthony Maroni and Barbara Elizabeth Vulcano in Syracuse, New York.

After graduating high school, Frank proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1976 until his honorable discharge in 1980. He went on to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, earning a degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology. His career took him across the world, working several airline positions, including a role with a private contractor in Saudi Arabia.

Frank then moved to Minnesota in 1991 to work for Northwest Airlines, where he met the love of his life, Denise Peine. They married on October 1st, 1994. He had two children, his pride and joy, Frank and Madison Maroni.

Frank had a gift for bringing people together. He loved spending time with family and friends, sharing stories, making spicy Italian sausage, and wearing his, sometimes stained, signature white V-neck T-shirts. He was happiest tinkering in the garage, talking cars, offering advice (whether you asked for it or not), or making sure everyone knew exactly how much work went into restoring the 1964-1/2 Mustang. He and Denise finished rebuilding it last spring, and he was able to enjoy nine car shows last summer.

Frank is survived by his loving wife, Denise; his children, Frank III and Madison; sisters Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Mawson, Christina (Seth) Koss; mother-in-law Lorraine Peine; brothers-in-law Wayne (Nancy) Peine, Mark (Julie) Peine, Allen (Nola) Peine; sisters-in-law Karen Simon, Janeen (Chad) Gifferson; uncle Fred (Midge) Zuccala; uncle Al Vulcano, aunt Peg Marani, as well as many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, and many friends who he considered family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Maroni and Barbara Vulcano, and his sister, Tammy Maroni, along with his grandmothers, Sarah Vulcano, Genevieve Marani; Grandfather Carmen Marani; Father-in-law Ervin Peine; and brother-in-law, Bruce Simon.

A Funeral Service for Frank will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel, 3075 Vermillion Street, Hastings. A visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. A light reception will follow the service. Private Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
