Francis J. Schommer

Francis J. Schommer, age 88 of Inver Grove Heights, died peacefully surrounded by his loving daughters on Thursday morning, July 5, 2018, at Regina Senior Living in Hastings. Francis Jacob, the son of John and Anna (Eischens) Schommer, was born on April 2, 1930, in Canby, Minnesota. Following his education, Francis enlisted in the United States Army and was later granted an Honorable Discharge. On February 21, 1953, Francis was united in marriage to Mildred Monson in St. Paul. Francis was a longtime employee at Ford Motor in St. Paul, and retired after thirty years of service. He enjoyed fishing, playing cribbage and cards, going to the casino, and playing pull tabs at the Moose Lodge and VFW in South St. Paul. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Mildred; and by five brothers. Francis is survived by his brother, Edward Schommer; daughters, Cheryl Seefeldt, Lois Schommer, and Janet (Chet) Usher; grandsons, Russell and Alex (Brianna); great grandchildren, Lindsey, Noah, and Baby Usher; and by other relatives and friends. Private family interment will be held at a later date. His daughters would like to thank the Allina Home Care Team of Andrea, Lydia and Kelly for all their kindness and support throughout the years.
