Florence S. O'Connor

Florence S. O'Connor, age 90, of Hastings, danced her last polka August 19, 2010 at her home in Hastings. She was born in New Trier on October 5, 1919 to Louis & Rose (Gerster) Giefer. She married Thomas J. O'Connor on November 20, 1941 at St. Boniface Church in Hastings. She was active with Guardian Angels parish, Regina Auxillary, Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. Florence was preceded in death by husband, Thomas; her parents; sisters, Marie Johnson; Elizabeth Giefer; Leona McNamara; Louise Ralphe; brother, Ernest Giefer.She is survived by children, Michael O'Connor of Fountain Hills, AZ; Rosemary (Dick) Gunst of El Cajon, CA; William O'Connor of Scottsdale, AZ; Susan O'Connor of St. Paul; John (Vicki) O'Connor of Hastings; Charles (Jill) O'Connor of Fairport, NY; Mark (Heidi) O'Connor of Savage; 7 grandchildren; brother, Charles (Alice) Giefer of Alexandria; special friend and cousin, Dorothy Werner. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday (8/23), 10:00 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. Visitation Sunday (8/22) 5-7pm at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings and 1 hour prior to mass at church. Interment St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Cemetery. The pallbearers are Patrick McNamara, James McNamara, Gordon McNamara, Daniel McNamara, Steve Weber & John Kranz. Memorials preferred.
