Florence M Kummer

Florence M. Kummer, age 98, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2014. She was born in Vermillion on October 15, 1915 to Jacob and Josephine (Werner) Kummer. She worked at Hudson Manufacturing for more than 30 years. She was the most gentle hearted, kind, and loving woman you could ever meet. Her faith was paramount. She loved shopping, garage sales, playing cards and baking. But most of all she loved her great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews, who were always greeted with a huge smile and open arms. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters, Julia Kral; William Kummer; Sophia Hoffman; Margaret Viskocil; George Kummer; Christine Novotny; and stillborns, Theresa and Aurelie Kummer. Florence is survived by her brother, Martin (MaryAnne) Kummer; and many, many, nieces; nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great, great nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Stan Mader, will be held Saturday, April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 106 West Main Street, Vermillion. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at church. Pallbearers are: Nick Rondeau; Jake Rondeau; Brian Kummer; Brad Kummer; Matt Kummer; and Dan Schmitt. Honorary Pallbearers are: Shelley Roush; Amy Rondeau; Candace Siebenaler; Chrissy Kummer; Jenny Schmitt; Katie Kummer and Jeni Watterson. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. A lunch celebrating Florence's life will be held immediately following the burial at the Union Hall in Vermillion. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
