Celebrating the Life of Fay Doris Johnson

Fay Doris Johnson, a woman whose life was defined by hard work, unwavering love, and a deep commitment to her family, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at the Regina Care Center. Born on February 6, 1937, Fay lived a vibrant life of 89 years, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and warmth that will be cherished by all who knew her.

Fay was a familiar and friendly face in her community for many years. She dedicated much of her professional life to Nybo’s in Red Wing, where her work ethic and spirit were well-known. Later, she shared her talents with the Red Wing School District, serving as the Head Baker until her retirement. Countless students and staff were the lucky recipients of her skill and care over the years.

Above all, Fay was the true heart of her family. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was the steady hand and the gentle spirit that guided multiple generations. Her greatest joy was found in the laughter of her family and the growth of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is reunited in peace with those who preceded her in death, her daughter, Kim Wood; grandchildren, Anthony Ingli, Travis Schluessler, Jeremy Wood, and Derek Schluessler; parents, Lucille & Albert Shelstad; sister, Elaine (Wayne) White; and brothers, Craig and Allen Shelstad.

Fay is survived by her children, Terry (Val) Schluessler, Gary (Debbie) Schluessler, and Tami (Dale) DeVries; grandchildren, Dustin (Dana) Schluessler, Tessa (Zak) Detko, Ashley (Gary) Berends, Jamie (Adam Knoepke) Wood, Joshua Wood, and Jillene Schluessler; great-grandchildren, Maddyn, Archer, Miller, Myla, Ivy, Abe, Mara, Lucy, Henley, Nikki, Ava, Bailey, Kaleb, and Loran; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

While her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, her family finds comfort in the memories of her grace, her wisdom, and the quiet strength she modeled every day.
