Evelyn A. Williams

Evelyn (Gergen) Williams, age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11th surrounded by her family. Born on October 3rd, 1923, she spent her childhood growing up and working on the family farm with her parents, Ben and Susie Gergen, and her brothers and sisters. After the family moved to Hastings, Evelyn worked in a variety of careers until she retired at age 75 from her full-time job cooking breakfast at the American Legion in Hastings.She was married to Stan Williams of Hastings and was the mother of Eileen 'EJ' Judge both of whom preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by one sister, Gloria Heinz, and one brother-in-law, Edward Heinz, both of Leesburg, Virginia. In addition, she has many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.Evie loved God, her family, a good card game, slot machines, sports (especially football, Tiger Woods, and the MN Twins), her '57 Chevy, and hard work. She will be remembered as a loving, prayerful, generous sister and aunt who possessed a 'feisty' personality and a 'giving heart of gold.'A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prescott with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at church. Pallbearers are Jeffrey Atkinson, David Youngren, Jonathan Dodge, Lewis Youngren, Brian Dodge and Michael Agen.
