Eugene Peter Walz, 84, of Burnsville, passed away Saturday surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 30, 1927 in Watkins, Minnesota to Ferdinand and Anna ( Neu) Walz. Eugene is survived by his wife Dorothy, son James (Sandra) Walz, daughter Barbara (James) Briant, grandchildren Lindsay (Derek) Bell, Derek Walz, Brittney and Heather Briant, Michael (Kim) and Steven Walz, great-grandchildren Madilynn Bell and Mason Walz, sister Esther (Alvin) Sponden, and brothers Roman, Wilbert (Jeanette), Celestine, Maynard (Jeanette), Waldemer (Carol), and Elmer (Judy) Walz, . He was preceded in death by son David and brothers Albin and Richard Walz. Eugene served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning the Purple Heart. He was a carpenter for Marvin Anderson Construction, and the Metropolitan Airport Commission. Eugene also lived out his love for his family and life with activities that included hunting, fishing, card playing, golf and travel. He will be forever treasured and missed. Gathering of Friends and Family will be 10-11 AM, followed by 11 AM Funeral Mass Wednesday, February 15, at the Church of Saint John Neumann, 4030 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan. Interment with honors is scheduled for 1:45 PM at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
