Ethel L. Schaar

Ethel L. Schaar, age 93, of Hastings died July 23, 2009 at the Regina Medical Center. Ethel was born July 4, 1916 in Hastings to Herman and Helen (Rhoma) Keely. She was a 1933 graduate of Hastings High School and married Norman George Otto Schaar on June 20, 1936 at St. John�s Lutheran Church in Hastings. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, and gardening. Ethel dearly loved her family and was a devoted grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norman; and brothers Chuck and Roy Keely. Ethel is survived by her 4 children, Roger (Nancy) Schaar of Elk River, Rudi (Charlotte) Schaar of Hastings, Janet (Robert) Selstad of Independence, MN and Joan (Charles) Wachter of Eagan; also 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister Dorothy (Carl) Schaar of Cannon Falls. The Funeral Service, officiated by Rev. Percy J. Damrow will be held at St. John�s Ev. Lutheran Church, 202 WestEighth Street, Hastings 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 28, 2009, with a visitation held one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, Hastings. The pallbearers are Jeff Wachter, Craig Wachter, Erik Selstad, Chris Selstad, Matthew Schaar, Dale Schaar, Pete Terry, Colin Terry, Steven Terry, and Leif Selstad.
