Ernest R. Comstock

Ernest R. Comstock of Hastings, died Oct. 7, 2007, at the Veterans Administration Center in Minneapolis. He was 84.He was born June 20, 1923, in Minneapolis, the son of Gustav and Saima (Peterson) Comstock.He served as a paratrooper in World War II. He was employed at the Bierstube. According to his family, he was an honorable man who helped anyone. He had integrity, a great sense of humor and a way with people. Once he called you a friend, he meant it for life.He is survived by his children, Scott Comstock of Minneapolis; Jody (Scott) Kaufman of California, Steve (Lauren) Comstock of Indiana, and Julie Comstock of Delaware; grandchildren, Rachel, Conner, Michael and Michelle. He was preceded in death by his parents.A visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. Interment is at noon, Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.The Wise Family Funeral Home (www.wisefamilyfh.com), Hastings, is in charge of the arrangements.
