Emmett "Benny" O'Brien

Emmett “Benny” O’Brien, age 89, of Hastings, passed away at Regina Medical Center in Hastings on February 11, 2016. He was born in Harpers Ferry, IA on March 29, 1926 to Joseph and Mabel (McCormick) O’Brien. Benny married Patricia Stevens at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings on April 30 1949. He was a member of the US Army from 1944-1946. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; parents; brother, Pat, and sister, Marie. Benny is survived by his children, Michael J. (Cathy); Mark P. (Mary Jo); Shannon (Greg) Rentz; and Kevin E. (Joanne); grandchildren, Shawn (Tamara); Kelly; Casey (Ashley); Joseph; Katie; Thomas; and Riley; great grandchildren, Samantha; Brianna; and Mcallen; sister in law, Mary Stevens; brother in law, Jerry Stevens; many other relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday (2/15) at 11:00 a.m. at Regina Memorial Chapel, 1175 Nininger Rd., Hastings. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass.
