Emma Marie Doyle, age 97 of Hastings, Minnesota died peacefully in her sleep on August 10, 2026.
Emma was one of 13 children, born on March 2, 1929 to Fred and Anna Bauer at home on their farm in Vermillion, Minnesota.
Emma married (Gilbert) George Doyle in March of 1951. She and George had five children. They farmed in Farmington, Minnesota for 50 years.
Emma was famous for her homemade “Grandma” bread that she baked her whole life. She was an amazing embroiderer selling dishtowels at the senior center if her children or grandchildren didn’t want them first. Emma also loved to play cards or games with anyone who wanted to play. She was very good at winning as many can attest to!
George and Emma traveled extensively and spent winters snow birding in California, Texas and then settling in Florida for many years. They were avid and very good golfers, with their home being the 19th green for many friends.
Emma is survived by three sons, Ron Doyle, of Henderson, Nevada, Dennis Doyle, of Farmington, Minnesota and David Doyle of Austin, Minnesota; her daughter, Mary Manninen of Florida; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Louise Kimmes and Tillie Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, George; son, Mike Doyle; 10 of her siblings: infant sister, Margaret, Rosie Becker, Helen Peine, Susie DuShane, Tony Bauer, Mike Bauer, Nick Bauer, Matt Bauer, Andy Bauer and Leo Bauer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th Street West, Hastings with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Reception to follow Mass. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to Hastings Family Service.
