Elizabeth Mary Langenfeld

Elizabeth M. Langenfeld, age 96, of Hastings, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at 4:36 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at the Regina - Benedictine Living Community.

Elizabeth was born at home on July 8, 1929, in Hastings, to Joseph and Hermia (Merlain) Kostelnik. She was the youngest of five girls. Elizabeth graduated from Hastings High School in 1947 and the College of St. Catherine, St. Paul in 1954 with a B.A. in Social Work.

While working as the Chief Social Worker of Ramsey County, she met and married Anthony J. Langenfeld, Director of Youth Ministry for the Catholic Diocese of St. Paul, on January 2, 1960. Together they raised a family of five children.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony of 54 years, her parents Joe and Hermina, and by her sisters: Mary, Jenny, Sophie, Rose, and Anne.

She is survived by her five children: Anthony Joseph, Paul Scott, Mark Christopher, Todd Allan, and Mary Elizabeth, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings, MN, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the Mass at the church.
