Eleanore A. Thurmes

Eleanore A. Thurmes, age 94, of Hastings, died Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Regina Care Center in Hastings surrounded by her loving family. Eleanore Ann Kruse was born August 17, 1925 in Miesville to Joseph and Marie (Eilen) Kruse. She grew up there and attended area schools. She married Math Thurmes on October 16, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Miesville. Her husband Math died on October 16, 1997, their 51st wedding anniversary. Eleanore enjoyed working with people, camping with family, dancing with her sisters, and playing games like cards and Bingo at Regina. She enjoyed Christmas with all the presents, music and decorations. She especially loved practicing her strong Catholic faith, including daily Mass and praying the Rosary. Eleanore is preceded in death by her husband Math, siblings Edward Kruse, Lucille Stoffel, Jimmy Kruse, Mary Jane Werner Berment, Gerald Kruse, Roger Kruse and Robert Kruse. She is survived by her children Ken (Diane) Thurmes, Bob Thurmes and Tom Thurmes; a sister Dorothy Fox; grandchildren Jesse (Lisa) Thurmes, Jason Thurmes, Jenna (Matt) Walker, Anna (Roy) Barigayomwe, Katie (Mark) Gloeckler, Reshia (Corey) Gogerty, Stephanie (Jake) Schweich, Matt Thurmes, Heather Thurmes, Tiffany Thurmes, and Maggie Toppin; also by 10 great grandchildren. Private family graveside services will be held at this time. Public services will be announced in the summer. Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
