Eleanor Lucas

Eleanor Margaret Lucas, age 93, of Hastings, MN, formerly of Omaha, NE, died March 5, 2022. Eleanor died peacefully while under the care of loving and compassionate staff at her home of nearly 8 years in Hastings, MN: Cassia Hastings Senior Health and Living Care Center (formerly Augustana). Her health suddenly declined in the past week and end of life was inevitable. Her family visited her all week long and paid their respects to a joyful, mischievous, precious, loving and caring mother and grandmother. We are grateful for the comfort afforded by the care facility staff. Eleanor and husband Joe moved to MN to be closer to her sons and families in 2002. They enjoyed apartment living until Joe’s death in 2006. Eleanor kept up her independent spirit until needing daily care in October 2014. Eleanor loved the care facility and was loved by many there. She brought joy, smiles and sometimes clever and witty ways to cajole the staff and friends there. Her trust was always in the Lord. She centered her entire life around Jesus’ love, teachings and His promise. She bestowed Jesus’ love on her family in many ways to help them along their way. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Mitchell. Eleanor was the last surviving sibling of the Ray and Margaret Farrow family of six children. Eleanor is survived by her sons, Joe Ray and Jeff (Lynn); 3 grandchildren, Ben and Erin Rae (Joe), and Mackenzie; 2 great-grandchildren, Caleb and Jackson; daughter in law, Leslee; and many other relatives and friends. A memorial service will be held in Hastings and a graveside commendation service will be held in Omaha, NE. Please contact the family for more information.
