Edward Wm. Ruhr

Edward Wm. Ruhr, age 90, of Hastings, died on July 1, 2009 at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings. Edward was born in Miesville,MNon February 12, 1919 to William and Agnes (Nilan) Ruhr. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, who served overseas in WWII. In August of 1943 Edward married his longtime girlfriend Mildred Rosenberger at the chapel in Mare Island in Vallejo, California. After his discharge from the Marines he graduated from the Rasmussen Business College in 1946 and went to work for the U. S. Treasury Department as an Auditor for 25 years. Edward enjoyed doing many things with his family including hunting, fishing, coin shows, traveling and going to State Fairs.Edward was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold, Joseph, Paul, Kenneth and Gordon Ruhr; sisters Marian Stoudt and Grace Herseth. Heis survived by his wife Mildred; his brother Eugene (Lois)Ruhr of Prescott, Wisconsin; his sisters Joan Steffenhagen of Overland Park, Kansas and Margie (Roland) Pabst of Hastings plus many nieces and nephews.Edward's funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at ST. ELIZABETH ANN SETON CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2035 W. 15th St. Hastings. His interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Inver Grove Heights. His visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM Monday, July 6, 2009, at CATURIA-SMIDT FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. 7th St. Hastings and at church 1 hour prior to the service.
