Shimek, Edward
Age 91, of Minneapolis. Born Nov. 4, 1920 in Cedar Rapids, IA, died Jan. 5, 2012. He served in the United States Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. Member of MN Watercolor Society, accomplished well-known artist (65 years) and in the Iowa Speed Skating Hall of Fame. Ed will be dearly missed by son, Dan Shimek; daughter, Laurie (Mark) Boyd; grandchildren, Anthony Shimek and Samantha Boyd; brother, Robert Shimek; and nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation, 5-7 pm, Tuesday, Jan. 10th at Henry W. Anderson Mortuary, 3640 23rd Ave S., Mpls. and also 1/2 hour before the service at Lakewood. Funeral service 12 noon Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Lakewood Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave S., Mpls. Interment Lakewood Cemetery.
