Edward "Eddie" Ryan

Edward "Eddie" Ryan, age 68 of Eagan, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul following a sudden illness.Edward Joseph III, the son of Edward and Cathleen (Wynne) Ryan, was born on July 16, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. Following his high school graduation, Eddie then enlisted in the U.S. Army and was granted an honorable discharge. He later met and married the love of his life, Roberta Van Deusen on November 24, 1989 and moved to Eagan. Eddie was a longtime employee of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota where he retired after twenty years of employment. He will always be remembered as a man who enjoyed a good laugh and his good friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his siblings, Catie Ryan and Jimmy Ryan.Eddie is survived by his wife, Robbie of Eagan; his children and grandchildren, Tara Ryan and daughter, Takara of St. Paul and Colleen Ryan and daughter, Ava of Maplewood; the mother of his children, Carol Phillips of Hastings; his siblings, Dennis Ryan of New York, Gregory Ryan of New York and Patricia Hross of Maine; and his step-son, Scott Williams of Portland, OR. Eddie is also survived by Robbies extended family and by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 4030 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan, with Father Spencer Howe officiating. Interment will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be at church for one hour prior to Mass on Tuesday.Arrangements are being completed by Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home Cremation Services in Hastings.
