Duane S. Richards

Richards, Duane S., 85, of Hastings, passed away on January 1, 2015. Duane was born in Barronett, WI on January 16, 1929 to Orie and Ellen Richards. At 17, he joined the Marine Corps. He was stationed in California. He met his wife of 64 years, Doris Irene (Pascoe) and they were united in marriage on September 23, 1950 at the United Methodist Church in Cuba City, WI. Duane then left for the U.S. Army and served his country a second time in Korea. After being honorably discharged, he completed his high school education and graduated from the Emery Riddle Flight School at the University of Miami. He trained at Midway Airport in Chicago and worked for the Federal Aviation Administration for 20 years. Upon retirement, he owned and operated the Riverview Inn in Brownsville, MN for 18 years. Duane and Doris resided at the Park Ridge Apartments in Hastings, MN for the past 8 years. Duane was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dennis. He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Rodney (Margarita) and Timothy; daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Dawson and Audrey (Bert) Points; grandchildren, Ben, Casey, Nick, Robin, Amber, Mindy, Chelsie and Amy; sisters, Dorothy Salwolke and Beverly Richards; brother, William Richards. Private Family Services were held. He will be interred at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
