Duane C. Crane

Duane C. Crane, age 80 of Cottage Grove, died peacefully at home on Friday morning, December 21, 2018. Duane Curtis, the son of Robert and Eleanor (Howard) Crane, was born on November 7, 1938, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Following his graduation from Detroit Lakes High School with the class of 1956, Duane enlisted in the United States Air Force and later received an honorable discharge. Duane was a longtime employee at 3M, and retired after thirty-five years of employment. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years, softball in his later years, garage saling, completing crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. Duane also loved spending time with his dog, Sushi. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight siblings; and by his former wife, Elizabeth (Moen) Crane. Duane is survived by his children, Carla (Mark) Walker, Wade (Marilyn) Crane, Vicki Crane Metcalf, Scott (Maria) Crane, and Stephanie Moechnig (Joel Knickel); grandchildren, Kevin (Madison) Walker, Ashlee (Corey) Tenold, Dakota Crane, Victoria Crane, Ashley Crane, Maquise Crane, John Metcalf Jr., Brandon Metcalf, Emmy Metcalf, Isabella Crane, Bennett Crane, Annika Crane, Patrick Crane, Elijah Moechnig, and Sophie Moechnig; sisters, Pat Doele, and Diane Abfall; brother, Dick Crane; and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are being completed by Caturia, Smidt Starkson Funeral Home Crematory of Hastings.
