Dr. Rudy Tan

Rudy E. Tan, MD age 87, of Hastings, passed away peacefully at Regina Hospital in Hastings on April 5, 2013. Rudy was born in Jakarta, Indonesia in1925. Rudy received his Medical Degree from the University of Jakarta in 1954 and his Surgical Degree in 1959. In 1964 he received his Foreign Doctor's Medical Education Certificate from the American Medical Association. He came to the United States in 1966, where he did five years of residency in general surgery in New York. In 1971 he moved to Marshall, MN where he was a Physician and Surgeon until moving to Hastings, MN in 1974 to start his own medical practice as a Physician and Surgeon at Regina Hospital. In 1981 he received his microsurgery certificate and practiced medicine and surgery until he retired in 1996. Rudy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Olga; their two sons, Ignatius and Johannes; and granddaughter, Faith.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 10, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass at church.
