Peterson, Dorothy Helen

Age 94 of Eagan, went peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus on June 17, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born on October 26, 1930, in Minneapolis, to Swedish immigrants, John and Anna Nelson and 5 years later became the big sister to brother, Donald. Dorothy enjoyed and excelled at all the tasks of homemaking that her mother had taught her, so she was able to “take over” at age 16 when her mother passed. She loved children and worked as a teacher’s aide at several South Minneapolis elementary schools. Dorothy also taught Sunday School, first at Lebanon Lutheran and later at Trinity Lutheran of Minnehaha Falls. For many summers she and her husband, Bob, led crafts at Trinity’s youth camp, Camp Patmos. Dorothy and Bob moved to Eagan after retiring, where they continued with their many hobbies.

Preceded in death by her husband, Bob; daughter, Dawn Goetz; and brother, Donald. Survived by her children, Diane (Tony) Louris, Dwaine, and David (Barbara); son-in-law, Boyd Goetz; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

A private family burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
