Dorothy M. Swanson

Dorothy M. Swanson, age 91, of Hastings died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at the Regina Medical Center. Dorothy was born November 7, 1917 in Hastings to Dan and Elizabeth (Currier) Caneff. She attended Hastings schools and married Leonard Swanson on November 14, 1945 at the Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Hastings. Together they have owned and operated Hidden Greens Golf Course in Marshan Township. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Joe, John, and Francis; and a sister Lorraine. She is survived by her husband Leonard; son Allan (Brenda) Swanson of Hastings; 4 grandchildren Jason (Lisa) Swanson, Brad (Brianna) Swanson, Denise (Brian) Dodge, and Nicole Swanson; also 3 great-grandchildren; brother Thomas (Margaret) Caneff of Hastings; sister Annette Varien of Spooner, WI, and sister-in-law Hilde Caneff of Hastings. The funeral mass for Dorothy Marie Swanson, officiated by Fr. James Perkl will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th Street West in Hastings. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. The visitationwill be held from 4-8 P.M. Friday, November 28, 2008 at the Caturia-Smidt FuneralHome, 201 East 7th Street in Hastings and also at the church on Saturday 1 hour prior to the service. The pallbearers are Ron Caneff, Dick Caneff, Jay Caneff, Kevin Caneff, Dennis Caneff, and Bill Caneff.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
