Dorothy L. Johnson

Dorothy L. (Cogswell) Johnson, age 92, of Hastings, died peacefully June 21, 2011 at home. She was born September 18, 1918 in Attleboro, Massachusetts. She was truly a member of the greatest generation. Dorothy met her husband Edwin while she was a USO Hostess in Boston, where he was serving in the US Navy in the early months of WWII. They married December 6, 1944. Dorothy was a longtime, active member of the Hastings Womens' Club and the Hastings Presbyterian Church. She is preceded in death by her husband Edwin L. Johnson and son-in-law, Lee Ostrom. Dorothy is survived by her son, Marshall (Joyce) Johnson; daughters, Andrea Johnson and Denise Ostrom; grandson, Marshall Jr. (Janeen); granddaughter, Jeanice (Jim) Meier; grandson, Jon Carlberg; and 8 great grandchildren. Memorial Gathering, Sat. (6/25) from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. Private Interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
