Dorothy I. Guck, age 84, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024, after a courageous battle with Cancer. She was born on January 24, 1940, in Clarkfield, MN to Forrest and Selma (Saxberg) Ferguson.
Dorothy's family moved frequently until settling in Newport, MN, where she graduated from Park High School in St. Paul Park. After high school, she embarked on a career as a dedicated bookkeeper for various local establishments, including the family business. On November 4, 1961, she married the love of her life, Gary Guck, with whom she raised three children, Scott, Paula, and Peggi.
Dorothy found joy in reading, exploring ancestry and genealogy, and traveling. Following the passing of her beloved husband in 2003, she seized the opportunity to embark on adventures, including cruises and visits to various destinations. Dorothy held a special place in her heart for her four grandchildren: Rachael, Abbie, Tony, and Vicki, cherishing individual moments with each, and delighting in the unique bond she shared with each of them.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, her parents, and her brother, Jerry Ferguson. She is survived by her son Scott Guck, daughters Paula (Mike) Drigans and Peggi (Mike) LeVake, grandchildren Rachael (Pat) Johnson, Abbie (Aaron) Johnson, Tony (Britta) LeVake, and Vicki LeVake, as well as other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Dorothy's life will take place at 11:00 AM on April 22, 2024, at Resurrection United Methodist Church, 615 15th St. W, Hastings, MN 55033, with visitation one hour prior to services and a reception to follow. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery will occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Cancer Research, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105, or donate online at https://www.stjude.org.
